With 30 years, extensive Police Service he has an in-depth experience of managing and delivering High Risk Events, Contingency and Emergency Planning. He is trained in Counter Terrorism Security Coordination with significant practical experience in the production of Security Plans for high risk events e.g. Protected visits (Ministerial and Royalty); Protected routes (Olympic Torch Relay 2012, NATO 2014) and protected sites (NATO Summit 2014, Welsh Parliament 2016, Champions League 2017).

A Trainer, Assessor and Internal Quality Auditor, being Lead Assessor/Course Director for the UK Police Counter Terrorism Security Coordinator (CT SecCo) training since 2012 including delivery to UK and International Police Forces, Military and FCO. He has trained more than 300 of the UK Police CT SecCos (in excess of 80 percent of all operational police CT SecCos within the UK). Developed and completed the Counter Terrorism Cyber SecCo Security Plan for the NATO Summit 2014 & Champions League Final 2017.

Garry is a Technical Member of IOSH, sitting on the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Sports Grounds and Events Group Committee and a Specialist Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. He is a full Member of the Security Institute and a previous Board Member of UK Police National Counter Terrorism Security Coordinators Board. He was also Chair of the Local Resilience Forum Infrastructure Group, Chair of the Local Resilience Forum Risk Assessment Group, and Tactical Member UK Police North West Regional Tactical Public Order and Public Safety and CBRNe Group.
